Commitment

Your son or daughter is embarking on one of life's milestones - learning to drive.

This is exciting but also requires a strong commitment on your part and that of your child.

TSR Driver Training, a contracted service through Keene Community Education, will provide 30 hours of classroom instruction, 10 hours of behind the wheel training, and the required 6 hours of in-car observation.

You need to provide 40 hours of behind-the-wheel time during the time your child is enrolled in Driver  Education, as required by the State of New Hampshire. This time is essential!

You will be provided with an official log sheet to record the dates you drove with your child and the skills you covered.

Parent(s)/Guardian(s) must attend the first hour of the first two-hour class  This is important!  TSR needs you to work with us to help emphasize the skills and attitudes necessary to become a safe driver.

Toward this end, TSR will provide you with a listing of the skills covered in class.  This will insure that instructors, parents, and students are "on the same page" and will help us all work together.  If a student needs assistance in reading the material for the driver education course it should be noted on the registration form.

Road Training Scheduling

Students will receive a copy of their driving schedule at the first class.

These schedules will be based on information provided on the registration form and on their classroom time.

Road training will be scheduled during the day if students have campus, or afternoons, evenings or on non-school days if necessary.

If a student must miss his or her behind-the-wheel driving time, he/she must notify the instructor the night before or no later than 7:00 AM of the day in question.

Students will receive contact information for their instructor once the schedule is determined.

Please note that scheduling is a TSR Driver Training (603-313-3301) responsibility, and not the province of Community Education.

Absences

In compliance with the State of NH requirements, no classroom instruction shall be missed during any course, except for good cause as determined by the instructor, including a death in the family, illness, or injury.

A note from parent explaining the absence is required. Absences due to good cause shall not exceed two classes (4 hours). After four hours, any additional absences will result in an "incomplete" and the student will  not be able to continue in that section of driver education.

A $50.00 fee will be charged for registration in another session.  The session attended must be within 6 months from the date of the last class attended.  After six months the student will have to pay the full fee for the course.

There is no refund if a student receives an “incomplete” and chooses not to complete training through KCEd/TSR Driver Training.

Driver Education sessions last for approximately eight weeks, please make driver education a priority during this period of time!

Possible Surcharges

If your student does not appear for behind-the-wheel training on a schedule date AND does not notify the instructor, TSR reserves the right to charge $30.00 per instance.

If, as reported by the eia.doe.gov web site, the east coast retail average fuel costs for regular gasoline during the period of each section exceeds $4.50 per gallon, TSR (our contracted driver education provider) may collect a fuel surcharge in the amount set below from each driver education student under the following conditions:

The surcharge will be collected at the conclusion of each section (no earlier than the final two sessions) as follows:

  • between $4.50-$5.49 per gal., a $10 surcharge
  • between $5.50-$6.49 per gal., a $20 surcharge
  • continuing in $10 increments or each $1.00 increase in gas

Any applicable fees must be paid before a student receives his/her "green card", the documentation which must be presented at the Department of Motor Vehicles prior to testing for a license.

These fees are payable directly to TSR.
