Keene Community Education Enrichment Programs is excited to announce that Jeffrey Newcomer will be leading a digital photography course starting in January.

Photography is a form of art and expression that is increasingly available – with digital cameras, phone cameras, as well as traditional film cameras.  It is an art that is almost universal, but still completely individual to the person holding the camera. Many people struggle with getting the quality of photos they are seeking. This class will explore the fundamental techniques of
photography – types of images, contributors to proper exposure, sharpness and focus, color balance, composition, flash photography, back-up strategies, and the use of the wonderful variety of light that we see in New England throughout the seasons. The classes will be taught with numerous examples and discussion about how your photos can best benefit from the
amazing potential of today’s digital cameras. Those with digital cameras will benefit most from the course, but camera phone users will also be welcome. In addition to classroom work, we will be planning at least one photo shoot on a weekend, to apply the techniques that we will be discussing.

Jeff Newcomer is a retired physician who has transitioned from his medical practice in Vermont and New Hampshire to photography, writing and teaching.  Jeff enjoys photographing throughout New England, but he concentrates on the Monadnock Region and southern Vermont. His photography has been shown in numerous local galleries and displayed in print publications including Yankee Magazine, Vermont Life and Backpacker Magazine. His images are also found on the web and in business publications.  Jeff is a member of the New England Photography Guild and a recipient of the Ruth and James Ewing Arts Award. He teaches classes including Introduction to Digital Photography and photo editing with Lightroom and Photoshop and leads photography workshops exploring fall foliage and spring waterfalls. His blog, which covers a broad range of photographic topics, includes over 400 articles. He lives with his wife Susan and beloved Goldendoodle Benjamin in Spofford, NH.
