Cost: $625.00, payable to “Keene School District” [additional $925.00 due for trainees continuing with Year 1 Plumbing curriculum]

Our 90-hour introductory level skilled trade pre-apprenticeship course will help you to explore career options in manufacturing, plumbing, construction, electrical, gas service, and beyond. You will learn about safety, blueprint reading basics, applicable math, tools and tool maintenance, employability skills, etc. Following the Core Curriculum: Intro to Basic Construction Skills, a prerequisite of many trades, trainees will develop the basic skills and knowledge to transfer to any skilled trade. Trainees interested in pursuing a career in plumbing will have the option of applying these pre-apprenticeship hours to their year 1 related instruction requirement by continuing on beyond the 90 hours to complete the additional 60 hours of curriculum requirements to fulfill their 150 hours of related instruction for plumbing year 1. Trainees will earn a certificate of completion from Keene Community Education, have the opportunity to meet with local employers, and also to complete their OSHA10 certification. Limit: 20

 Orientation, course introduction, math assessments, individual goal writing, etc.

Module 101: Basic Safety (approx. 12.5 hrs)

Module 102: Introduction to Construction Math (approx. 10 hrs)

Module 103: Introduction to Hand Tools (approx. 10 hrs)

Module 104: Introduction to Power Tools (approx. 10hrs)

Module 105: Introduction to Construction Drawings (approx. 10 hrs)

Module 106: Introduction to Basic Rigging (approx. 7.5 hrs)

Module 107: Basic Communication Skills (approx. 7.5 hrs)

Module 108: Basic Employability Skills (approx. 7.5 hrs)

Module 109: Introduction to Materials Handling (approx. 5 hrs)

OSHA10: Occupational Safety Training (10 hrs)

 Meet and Greet, for successful completers, with local skilled trade employers

 

Course Requirements:

Class attendance and participation policy: To successfully complete this course each student must complete all of the required hours of class time built into the program. Each student is expected to arrive on time and stay for the entire class.

Testing: Students will be tested on each module upon its completion, and should be able to maintain a minimum average test score of 70% throughout the duration of the course.

Make-up Policy: Hours missed must be made up within two weeks of the absence as required in the school policy. Tests must be made up at the next class following the missed test or a score of 0 will be recorded.
